‘Softer’ NFL Turns To

Merchandising, Women To

Expand Fan Base

By Christy Strawser, digital director DETROIT (CBS Detroit) As Ndamukong Suh gets fined not just for crunching opponents’ knees, but also for touching his helmet to another player’s chest, it’s safe to say the NFL is softer than it was in years past.
Let’s sum it up this way: Victoria’s Secret makes NFL sleepwear for college girls.
In this case, the secret’s out of the bag. The NFL is working to broaden its fan base, and many believe that’s one of the reasons the game is changing, evolving as it tries to maintain its hold on the hearts and minds of Americans. Efforts at marketing to women have brought 16-page women’s magazine spreads breaking down the game, girly NFL T-shirts, aprons and oven mitts.
There’s the ongoing concussion situation, but Lawrence Jackson, a free agent who played for Detroit from ’10 to ’12, told CBS Detroit’s Ashley Dunkak one of the factors in the game’s changing on-field dynamics could also be more women watching the game.

A Golden Opportunity For Conservatives

You all know how to link, don’t you?

After, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, NSA spying, and the many transgressions of the Obama administration, finally we might have an issue where we seem to be getting some traction.

The general public is actually starting to show some dissatisfaction with Obamacare.  While most people are either incapable of understanding,  or just don’t take the time to understand, how the previous Obama scandals have affected them, this Obamacare debacle is easy for them to grasp. Especially when they see their health insurance cancelled and how much more health coverage is now going to cost them.

The other Obama fiascos only directly affected select groups of people, but Obamacare is going to directly impact a very large percentage of the population.  Just about everyone will either be negatively affected, or will know someone personally, that will be.  Finally, the people who don’t pay attention to news or politics, are starting to see and understand how Obama’s policies hurt them.

This is our chance.  Don’t waste it.  In the near future, you are going to hear people that never liked to discuss politics, start saying things like, “My lost my health insurance because of Obamacare.” or “My health care insurance is now more expensive under Obamacare.” or “I’ve tried, but can’t get signed up for Obamacare.  The website’s a pain in the ass.”

When they say things like that - That’s your opportunity to get through to them.  They now have had some first hand experience, and understand how at least one liberal policy has had a negative impact on their lives.  They are now going to be more open to hearing what you’ve got to say than ever before.  This will be your golden opportunity to get through to them.  How do you do that?  By linking.

Obamacare is Obama’s signature issue.  He has put more effort into this than anything else (except campaigning), but look at the results.  Obamacare is starting to look to the general public like an ill-conceived, poorly administered disaster, and they are 100% correct.

Now if Obamacare...

  • Doesn’t deliver what was promised
  • Costs the country more than expected
  • Costs individual citizens more than expected
  • Reduces citizens ability to choose what type of insurance plan is best for them
  • Can’t even produce a useable website
  • Was sold to the American public with misstatements and outright lies

...imagine how bad the rest of Obama’s policies and programs are!  I promise you, that people are going to see the connections when you link it to other things.

When someone says that Obamacare hasn’t delivered what was promised, you link it to the stimulus package and explain how that didn’t deliver what was promised.

When anyone says that Obamacare is going to cost the country more than expected, you link it to how Obama’s other policies have cost the country more than expected, and increased the national debt to $17 trillion.

When a person says that their health insurance is going to cost them more under Obamacare, you link it to how Obama’s energy policies cost them more at the gas pump, and how increased energy cost drive up all other costs.
When a friend tells you that Obamacare has reduced his choices of health insurance policies, you link that to the fact that Obama has often attempted to reduce people’s choices, like a person’s choice to defend themselves with a particular type of firearm.

When someone speaks of the incompetence of the Obama administration in setting up the Obamacare website, you link it to the administration’s incompetence in handling Benghazi, the economy, and just about everything else.

When people say they were lied to, when Obama was pitching Obamacare, you link that to how he and his administration, lied about Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Fast and Furious, etc.

I thought of all this as fast as I could write it.  Imagine what you could come up with, if you put some thought into it.  Let’s not let this crisis go to waste!

Once you have gotten someone to understand that it’s not just Obamacare, and it’s not just Obama, it’s liberalism itself, that is the problem, that’s when you go in for the kill.

Tell them that all of these liberal disasters (social security, medicare, wealth transfer payments, environmental regulations, stimulus, etc.) either costs them money, or diverts tax money from other things that would serve us all better.  The end result is less money for the people, who up until now, could only see the increased costs of Obamacare.

Now they’re putty in your hands and here’s how to get them to come over to your side.  You link all they have just learned to the fact that they don’t have all they want in life, that they aren’t realizing their dreams.  Mention all the things that they could have had if it weren’t for liberal policies.  That Harley that they have been lusting after, they could have had it, if it weren’t for the likes of Obama.  They talk about the fond memories they have of their dad’s Mustang and they're disappointed that they can’t afford one.  They could, if it weren’t for the progressive agenda.  They wish they could have had their own business?  They could have, if it weren’t for liberal policies.

Once people understand what Obama and other liberals have cost them, they won’t be so disinterested in politics anymore, and you’ll be able to count them being in the conservative corner.

New Spin on an Old Joke

Q: What’s black and white  and not hardly red at all?

A: A newspaper.

But If I don't Like My President, I Still Have to Keep My President

How come these words, destroyed George H. W. Bush's chance at a second term...

"Read my lips..."

...but these words, which Obama repeated over and over, have had no effect upon him?

“If you like your doctor..."

Is this guy ever going to be held accountable for what he says and does?

Hey I Didn't WRITE it, I Just FOUND it.

So don't give me a hard time.

Trayvon Martin’s Mother Is A Worthless Sack Of Shit

Sybrina Fulton, mother to maggot food Trayvon Martin, appeared before the US Senate today to politicize the well deserved death of her worthless piece of shit child. Trayvon was shot to death in February of 2012 as he assaulted George Zimmerman, who was luckily armed at the time, with a 9mm semi automatic pistol.
George_Zimmerman_front_of_headShe was speaking to the US Senate about Florida’s “Stand Your Ground Law”, apparently because she thinks her scumbag offspring has the right to assault people without any fear of reprisal. “I just wanted to come here to talk to you for a moment, to let you know how important it is that we, amend, this stand your ground because it did not, certainly did not work in my case.” said Fulton in a video released by USA Today, “The person that shot and killed my son, is walkin the streets today”.
I think Sybrina is misunderstanding the point of the stand your ground laws, which, by the way, have nothing to do with the US Senate. The law actually worked just fine, your son is supposed to be dead, and the guy who killed him is supposed to be a lot freer than he currently is. In fact, that’s the case even without “stand your ground” laws. No man is obliged to let somebody beat his skull in on the ground, in hopes that police show up before they die.
Guns are an effective crime deterrent, because they kill bad guys, like your deviant little brat. That has always been their primary purpose. It’s not a recent phenomenon, that when some gangster wannabe screams ”You’re going to die tonight motherfucker!”, goes for your gun, and starts bashing your face in, that a well placed bullet to the chest solves the problem. The Florida legislature didn’t figure this out in 2005, it has always been this way.
George_Zimmerman_back_of_headIt’s plain and simple self defense. If I have a pistol on me, I am not getting into a fistfight with you. That’s why I carry a pistol, to avoid getting into fights. I don’t care who you are, if I have my gun, and you hit me, I hope you said goodbye to your family before you left the house, because you’re never going to see them again. I am not going to wait and see who wins the fight and winds up in control of the weapon.
If George Zimmerman did anything wrong, it was waiting to pull his gun. He should have had it pointed at your degenerate hatchling’s face before he got within arms reach of him. That way he could have put your little vermin descendant into the dirt before he got his face busted open. With all the political windbagging you and your liberal friends have done over this matter though, I suppose it’s a good thing he had the wounds to prove his victimhood.

Check Out the "War" at CBC

In case you haven’t noticed, I often put my posts up on Conservative Blogs Central (CBC), and recently, I got into a little brewhaha over this post.  It’s the same post as you may have seen on the Geese, but the comments on CBC were starting to get a little out of hand.

Luckily for me, Angela Petree (The Conservative Wife), and Rick Lakehomer, who apparently writes for for several blogs had my back.

Check it out and let me know if you think I’m right or wrong.

Enough of this Political Crap, Let's Talk About What's REALLY Important

5 secrets of the Chevrolet El Camino

plus a few more I added in red.
Published October 25, 2013
Lately, Chevy has been in the business of either resurrecting or actually doing justice to nameplates of the past (see the new Impala, SS and Camaro).  Still in the wilderness, however, is the much-loved El Camino. Part car, part pickup, hope springs eternal that it might make a comeback. But until then, here are some things most people don’t know about it:
  1. Bill Clinton Owned One: The 42nd President of the United States drove a 1970 El Camino with a bed lined in Astroturf. Enough said.
  2. GM Still Builds It: Well, sort of. GM’s Australian division, Holden (which gave us two of the last great cars to wear the Pontiac badge, the G8 and the final GTO), builds the very El Camino-like Holden Ute, which is badged as a Chevy in the Middle East. Rumors persist that if the El Camino name returns to the U.S. for 2015, it will be based on this car.
  3. It Had a Forgotten Twin: The GMC division offered the El Camino’s identical twin from 1971-87 under two names, the Sprint and Caballero.
  4. Ford beat Chevy to the Punch: Ford often seemed to have the better idea first (the Mustang beat the Camaro to market, the Bronco beat the Blazer, etc.), and so it was with the Ranchero, the first post-war coupe utility to hit the market in 1957. But it was the more flamboyant El Camino, which debuted two years later in 1959, that really captured the public’s imagination. It outlasted the Ranchero, too, staying on the market for eight more model years.
  5. It Could Embarrass Some Real Performance Cars: For a few model years during the horsepower wars, Chevy offered the El Camino with some of the high-performance engine options from the muscle car Chevelle. This reached its zenith in 1970, when a select few people actually ordered an El Camino with the famous LS6 option, which consisted of a 450-hp, 454-ci engine.  Capable of quarter-mile times of around 13 seconds, LS6 El Caminos are highly sought after today by collectors of American muscle.

  6. El Caminos were produced in ‘59 and ‘60, but were not made in ‘61, ‘62, or ‘63.  The first two years, they were built on the full size Chevy platform, after that, they were built on the mid-size Chevelle platform.
  7. When I worked as a Chevy salesman in 1988, a  clean, used ‘87 El camino could already bring more than it’s original sticker price.  I saw it happen with my own eyes,
  8. From what I could tell by looking at one that had been in an accident, it appears that that at least part of the original factory metal bumper remains behind the SS Monte Carlo style front end on Choo Choo conversion SS El Caminos.
  9. Although you’d never know it, ‘70 El Caminos and wagons front fenders are different than regular Chevelles.
  10. What killed off the El Camino was the introduction of mini-pickup trucks. (S-10, Ranger, and imports)  They were about half the price.
  11. It was probably the polarizing car ever made.  You either loved or hated them.
  12. If you like the El Camino style, but are a Pontiac, Olds, or Buick fan, any late ‘70’s or ‘80’s GM G-body front clip is pretty much a direct bolt on affair.
  13. No matter what anyone says, if done correctly, El Camino 4x4 conversions are cool.

Didn't We See the Same Thing Happen With D.A.R.E.?

So Why Do We Continue to Spend Tax Dollars on This?

Costly Anti-Bullying Programs Backfire

Countless tax dollars have been spent on anti-bullying programs, and 49 states have anti-bullying laws. After New Jersey passed a broad anti-bullying law, hundreds of schools “snapped up a $1,295 package put together by a consulting firm that includes a100-page manual.”
But a University of Texas researcher found that anti-bullying programs increase bullying, and “actually teach students different bullying techniques — and even educate about new ways to bully” classmates:

Feds Told GM To Drop Pontiac Or No Bailout, Ex-GM Exec Says

When General Motors shut down Pontiac, it left a lot of enthusiasts wondering why. It was primed with a lineup of powerful, rear-wheel drive models, and seemed like it had a bright future ahead of it. It turns out that GM killed it on government orders, according to former GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz.P
Read full article if you can bear to hear the sad story.

My initial reaction was to say, “Of all the heinous, inexcusable things things you ever did, this is the worst.”, but that would belittle all the damage you did that ruined, or even ended people’s lives.

Killing the company that made the Trans Am is no where near as bad as letting people die in Benghazi, or causing people to die in Mexico, or spying on everyone, or abusing the power of the IRS, or destroying the economy, but there is something about this that really gets to me.

I guess it just shows that you have absolutely no respect for American culture or American icons, which reinforces my belief that you have no respect for America itself. Imagine if Pontiac would have got that half a billion instead of Solyndra.

A Princeton Alumna Explains Why She Won’t Donate Anymore

Posted by Aleister    Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 12:30pm
Ellen R. Wald (née Horrow) recently wrote a letter to Princeton’s alumni magazine in which she makes it clear why she’s not giving the school any more money. Be sure to read the whole thing.

Behind Academia’s Curtain

In June I received a call from a classmate, soliciting a donation for Princeton’s Annual Giving campaign. My husband and I always have contributed to our alma maters (we have four degrees between us), but we no longer will donate to universities, at least not until we see changes.
Since graduate school, I have been allowed to see behind the curtain of academia, especially of the humanities, and I am not proud. The fact is that students are generally an afterthought, and departments don’t value teaching, let alone quality instruction. They do value the right ideological pedagogy. They don’t teach nearly enough of the basics of humanities that my parents learned at Princeton in the 1960s and 1970s. Neither do they teach what students want to learn and need to learn to prepare for life, to become educated citizens, and to assist in their future careers. Instead they typically teach on issues of divisiveness, blame, and social minutia. In my field, history, students often leave ignorant of the essential facts.
The notion of academic freedom is also false, as faculty stifle and ostracize those who produce scholarship that challenges the current orthodoxy. Universities also focus overwhelmingly on increasing administration and infrastructure, at the expense of the undergraduates’ education.
I hope and expect Princeton to be better than other institutions in these respects, but the American university system as a whole is failing its students.

High school cheerleader car wash violates environmental laws

It’s hard to wave your spirit fingers when the city shuts down the cheerleading squad’s fundraising car wash to protect the environment.
This is what happened to Lincoln High School cheerleaders  trying to raise money to attend a national competition in April. The San Jose Mercury reports that local environmental officials warned the high school cheerleaders that their car wash violated the city’s water discharge laws.
“We had a visit from the city of San Jose Environmental Services Department who said that the car washes at Hoover [Middle School] are in violation of water discharge laws, therefore we had to cancel this and all future car washes,” said an email that was sent out to neighborhood email lists on Oct. 18.

“Anything that is not storm water or rain water is considered a pollutant,” said Jennie Loft, acting communications manager for San Jose’s Environmental Services Department. “If it goes into a storm drain, that pollutant will harm wildlife and habitats in the creeks. Water goes directly from the storm drains into our creeks.”

Go look at any large parking lot.  It is covered with gasoline, oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and any other liquid that you may add to an automobile.  Where do you think it goes, every time it rains? An annual fund raising car wash does not contribute even one one-thousandth the pollution a parking lot does. Another example of government organizations with way too much power and way too little common sense.
