Wait a second, time out, time out!

For over a year now, we've been hearing lefty websites telling us that we "need" to have a $15/hr. minimum wage, but then the same sites say that Trump's deportation plan will destroy American businesses.  How can both be of things be true?

Whether its the mainstream media, or some fourth rate blog.  Lefty journalists are scooped up from the bottom of the barrel.  Check out the article below.

Anthony Bourdain’s Wake Up Call To Trump On His Deportation Plan

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has some strong words for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who espouses some pretty xenophobic immigration policy plans: “Every restaurant in America would shut down” without the undocumented immigrant population.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I can understand Bourdain's logic, but this article appears on a lefty site that is in favor of the 15/hr. minimum wage.

In the article Bourdain says:

I rolled out of a prestigious culinary institute and went to work in real restaurants. I walked into restaurants and always, the person who had been there the longest, who took the time to show me how it was done, was always Mexican or Central American. The backbone of the industry — meaning most of the people in my experience cooking, preparing your food. Twenty of those years in this business I was an employer, I was a manager employer. Never, in any of those years, not once, did anyone walk into my restaurant — any American-born kid — walk into my restaurant and say I’d like a job as a night porter or a dishwasher. Even a prep cook — few and far between. Just not willing to start at the bottom like that.
“If Mr. Trump deports 11 million people or whatever he’s talking about right now, every                 restaurant would shut down,”

OK, so restaurants depend upon illegal immigrant workers because so few Americans are willing to work for the wages that American restaurants are willing to pay.  Let's assume that that is true.

Then why, why, would anyone who believes that also be in favor of a $15/hr. minimum wage?  Wouldn't that effectively eliminate any advantage of hiring illegal immigrant employees?

Maybe all of the people in favor of a higher minimum wage should be in favor of Trump's deportation plan. Maybe the reason that pay for restaurant employees is so low is because of illegal aliens flooding the labor pool.  As with everything else, increasing the supply of labor will drive down its price.

The author even alludes to this in the very same article, but is too stupid to realize it:
Beyond Trump, a 2008 Pew Hispanic Center report found that about 20 percent of the nearly 2.6 million chefs, head cooks, and cooks are undocumented. The same survey also found that 28 percent of the estimated 360,000 dishwashers are also undocumented. Those figures might beunderreported. As with many restaurant workers, the very low wages means that a lot of these workers are likely living in poverty or near-poverty.
If that's not bad enough, the author also adds this cheap shot at the end of the piece:
Trump has also suggested that Mexican immigrants could be rapists and drug dealers, statements that may have contributed to his supporters physically assaulting Latinos.
Can you believe that?  Adding a obviously biased statement like that (which has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the story) at the very end of the article?  This doesn't even meet the standards of high school journalism.

Trump finished?

Peaked? Plateaued? Fading? Shrinking? Don't you weenies wish?  How smart are people who take a week long anomaly and try to use that to demonstrate the reversal of a several month trend?  Charlie Sykes, wishful thinking does not make for intelligent analysis.

Don't worry about last week's Iowa numbers, Trump fans.  I'm sure that's gonna change soon enough.  By now, it should be clear to everyone that the Trump supporters have much more credibility on this issue than the Trump bashers.

Sorry Charlie, Republican voters don't want a candidate who minds what he speaks.  They want a candidate who speaks his mind.

Quick word on Republican debate before I go to bed.

Winners:  Republican Candidates, audience

Losers: Debate Moderators

Interesting notes:

I never heard the national debt mentioned once during the Democratic debate and I heard it mentioned at least 20 times tonight.  That alone should be enough to convince anyone which party is more serious about the well being of this country.

Seemed like all the moderators were trying to play gotcha with the candidates.  I didn't see any of this during the Democratic debate.  Many of the candidates (Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina, Trump), and the audience noticed this too.

No where near as many questions for Trump this time.  Maybe the MSM is starting to learn that attacking Trump just makes him stronger.

Hard for me to say who won.  I think Trump did just fine, especially with his closing statement.  It was easy to pick who did the worst - Jeb.

Sorry Charlie

Sorry Jay.  Sorry all you other weenies who call yourselves conservatives.  Republicans don't want candidates who mind what they speak, they want candidates who speak their minds.

I'm really sorry to hear (not) that your orgasms over last weeks Iowa polls only lasted a few days.  Looks like things are getting back to normal now.  Better look at those Iowa numbers long and hard while they last.  I'm betting that's gonna change.

Well, well, well, aren't we clever?

Some say that the political process in the United States is rigged.  Well, that may or may not be true, but what is definitely rigged is who makes it onto major news aggregating sites.  Everyday, I run across articles on Bad Blue that I wouldn't put up on my blog if I wrote them myself.

Below is a great example.  It's a weak piece, not even worthy of a liberal college newspaper.  It does however, unwittingly point out how conservatives lose to liberals, not just in elections, but on social issues, and defending our own from attack.

Donald Trump Eaten by Giant African Lion

Funny Huh?  OK I admit it.  I changed the photo.
DES MOINES (AP) – In a shocking and horrifying development, a Donald Trump campaign event in Iowa was interrupted when the Republican front runner was swallowed whole by a giant African lion that had wandered onstage, seemingly out of nowhere.
                                                                      -------------------------------------
For their part, Trump supporters seem unfazed by the news. A Drudge Poll taken just minutes after the shocking event found that by a 61-39 margin, Drudge readers believed that Trump won the exchange with the lion. One Trump supporter who agreed to be interviewed for this story stated, “We are sick and tired of the GOPe telling us who we should and should not support in this election. I have read the Constitution, unlike most of the Republican establishment, and nowhere in it does it say the candidate has to be alive, or that being eaten by a giant African lion disqualifies you from becoming President. We still believe that Trump will #MakeAmericaGreatAgain and if anyone tells us that Trump can’t because he’s dead, we know these are just lies spun by Karl Rove.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, I get it, I get it.  Trump didn’t really get eaten by a lion.  Leon’s just trying to demonstrate how stupid Trump supporters are because they don’t just abandon him in droves each time we hear some negative news about him.  Clever, very clever.  If we were all as smart as you, Leon, Republicans would never lose an election, right?  Right?

Well, Leon, maybe, just maybe, you’re too smart for your (and all other conservatives’) own good.  If Hillary and Bernie’s supporters acted the way you want conservatives to act, I suppose any of the Republican presidential candidates could win the election in 2016.  But you know what?  Democrats aren't acting that way and they never have.  Even their candidates don’t act that way, as shown by Bernie Sanders when he chose not to crucify Hillary when he had the chance in the first Democratic debate.
Democrats either support their front runner, or at the very least, avoid trying to destroy him or her.  It’s for the good of the party and for all Democratic voters who believe that any Democrat (even if it isn’t their first choice)  is better in the White House than a Republican.  To put simply, Democrats are smarter than Leon and any other conservative who is trying to destroy the Republican front runner.

For years, even decades, I have been hearing people saying that the Republicans need someone who can reach more voters than just the Republican base.  Donald Trump is just that. He’s getting support from people and groups that rarely, if ever even considered supporting a Republican.

Then there’s the charisma thing.  George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain, and Mitt Romney.  Does anyone remember any of these guys getting a crowd excited?  If someone can’t even get a crowd of supporters worked up, how could they ever expect to get any undecided voters?  Trump has by far, more potential to get the votes people who do not consider themselves hard core conservatives than any other Republican candidate.  He also has the best chance of getting votes of people who normally stay home on election day.

I found this video at The Last Refuge
and just couldn't wait to post it.
------------------
I also think this would be a great
Trump fight song.

Any true conservative is gonna need a boat load of charisma in order to win a presidential election these days, and even the supporters of all the other GOP presidential candidates would have to admit that Trump is the only one in the Republican field who has it.  Some say that Trump isn’t a true conservative and while that may or may not be true, that in itself, is worth tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of the undecideds votes.  Oddly enough, the accusation that Trump is not a true conservative is a net positive for conservatives if they believe that any Republican in the White House is better than a Democrat.

Maybe the reason people accuse Trump of not being a true conservative is because he has something most conservatives lack - a spine.  He doesn’t back down and neither do his supporters.  Up until now this was a trait shown only by liberals, and this goes beyond elections.  Liberals rarely get banished from the spotlight regardless of what they do.  If this wasn’t true we wouldn’t have heard from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton in decades.  Having a child as the result of an affair, not paying your taxes, it doesn’t matter, because their supporters, support them no matter what. Unwavering support is the most valuable asset a politician or other public figure can have. Just ask Bill Clinton.

The same is true with conservative versus liberal causes.  The liberals fight and continue to fight for their causes.  Despite the occasional setback, they never give up.  Compare that to conservatives who tend to abandon their causes as soon as the winds of public sentiment seem to be blowing against them.  Just ask Phil Robertson.

Stupid conservatives could learn some things from, Trump supporters, liberals, and Vince Lombardi.  When it comes to politics, elections, and social issues, winning isn’t everything.  It’s the only thing.

Grudge Report Update 10/24/15

As far as I'm concerned, the people and organizations  below are the enemy.  More so than the Democrats because the Democrats have much less of a chance of influencing conservatives not to support Trump.

They disparage the clear Republican front runner in hopes of having "their guy" winning the nomination.  If they are successful, the Democrats are sure to win the presidency in 2016.  If that happens, I will never forgive them.  If unsuccessful, they are counting on people forgetting what they said.  I will never forget. The complete list of names and organizations is much, much longer than what I have here right now.  I will be adding more as I have time.

Remember, I'm counting on your help here.  Send the names of all the "conservative" Trump bashers you know of.  Email me or comment on any post.

My Take on Bernie Sander's

The Trump bashers started their assault by accusing him of not being a serious candidate.  They were proven wrong about that like they will be proven wrong about most of their other criticisms of him.

What about Bernie Sanders?  Is he a serious candidate?  I don't think so.  I believe that he is nothing more than a get out the vote for Hillary tactic.  If he wasn't, he would have taken the chance to destroy her when it arose during the Democratic debate.  He could have cast some serious doubts on her credibility and honesty, but instead he chose to cast doubts on the allegations against her.  A true opponent wouldn't do that, a subordinate would.

Bernie is nothing more than a tool for the Democrats to get the far left (who have turned out to be less enthusiastic about Hillary than they expected) excited about the 2016 presidential election.  Once nomination time comes, Bernie will (in one way or another) throw his support behind Hillary, and his supporters will be instructed to vote for her.

Am I wrong about this?  The only thing that will make me believe that is if Bernie gets the Democratic nomination.  How many of you think that's going to happen?

Trump Supporters, don't let this get you down

It's almost sickening listening to Milwaukee radio talk show hosts, Charlie Sykes and Jay Weber.  It's a good thing they're not on TV.

Both of them must have been drooling as they read and commented on the news stories below. These guys are supposed to be conservatives.

I have listened to them for years. I used to respect them.  I used to think they were intelligent.  How smart can anyone be if they regularly alienate a huge percentage of their listeners. They don't just bash Trump, they belittle his supporters.  Well, they are on the brink of losing at least one listener.  Not that they care.

These stories can be depressing for us Trump fans, but we shouldn't let them (or guys like Jay and Charlie) get us down. Here's the real story behind these polls -

Trump’s Iowa supporters are more loyal

Dr. Ben Carson now leads Donald Trump in two polls in Iowa, enough for the mainstream media to go wild with wall-to-wall coverage.
The Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll released on Friday morning Carson led Trump by nearly a double-digit lead, 28 to 19 percent respectfully.

But the former neurosurgeon still has a serious problem: his support is a mile wide and an inch deep.
According to that same poll, only 15 percent of Carson supporters said there mind is made up, while 83 percent said they could see themselves supporting someone else.
Trump had the twice the level of loyalty from his supporters, 32 percent said they have settled on the billionaire while 67 percent said they could still be persuaded.

Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register Iowa Poll
Carson’s surge could be a matter of style over substance.
A majority–69 percent–of likely Republican Iowa Caucus goers supported Carson’s statements about a Muslim president being unacceptable. While 46 percent said they were less likely to vote for Trump because he attacked other candidates.
