Check this out!

I came across this while visiting My Daily Kona.

If you were a fan of the original Star Trek TV series, but never really got into any of the ones that followed, check this out!  It is simply fantastic.  It gives off old school Star Trek vibes.

Pretty good, huh!  Now get this.  Independent film makers made this video for $70,000.  When was the last time you saw this kind of quality sci-fi come out of Hollywood?  If the independents can make movies this good for that little, traditional movie makers are in big trouble.

  1. Hey Neil,

I ran across Axanar late last year and was frankly blown away by how good it was. I had seen some of the other Star Trek fan based stuff on YouTube, and some is ok, some of it is ...well frankly lame. But Axanar flat out kicked butt! I have watched it several times and keep picking up a few new things every time I watch it. I hope to see more of this stuff, it can quickly change the Hollywood perception as the center of the Universe that it has of itself.

    1. I was amazed how good it was, but I was also surprised how few views it has. Why it hasn't gone viral, mystifies me.

  2. A most excellent 'fan pic'. Every bit as good visually as anything seen on the big screen and the story line so far is outstanding. Hopefully full funding for the follow up production can be had as this prelude shows amazing promise.

  3. Infinitely better than anything that has come from the traditional sources in the past 30 years. I'm surprised that not more people know about it.

  4. Damn, I was really getting into it when it ended. This movie needs to be made and with the same actors. I always liked Kate Vernon.

    1. I wish there was some way we could get the word out about this. Maybe someone who has connections with a big website could pass it along.

    2. I just checked the Axanar website and apparently they are in pre-production for the feature length film. It looks like the project is moving along. I'm thinking about tossing them a couple bucks.

    3. I was considering that too. Maybe they could also raise money by selling advance tickets to the movie for say, $50, and they could in a T-shirt or something.
