If I Ever Accidentally Ingest Poison, I'll Just Think About Reid and Pelosi to Induce Vomiting

I’m so sick of Democrats denigrating anyone who’s trying to make a buck fair and square, especially when they abuse the the power of their positions to make themselves or members of their families rich.  Harry Reid made himself a multi-millionaire in this fashion. Check this out:

Harry Reid's Long, Steady Accretion of Power & Wealth

“You don’t go far in Nevada before you run into Harry Reid, or one of his people, or somebody who he’s helped come along, or someone he’s helping come along,” explained Steve Sebelius, a Nevada political journalist and longtime Reid-watcher. “His reach is pretty far. … He’s at the top of the heap.”
“It’s like an iron fist inside a titanium glove,” said Sebelius of Reid’s control over the state’s Democratic Party. “His people are firmly in control. Who runs is who he wants to run, and who doesn’t run is who he doesn’t want to run. There’s no one on the Republican side with that kind of influence and control.”
Damore suggested that Reid -- because of his extensive in-state political network and status as Senate majority leader -- may be “the most powerful politician in Nevada state history,” an assertion that several other state political experts agreed with (or at least saw some merit in). But Nevada politicos don’t really debate about the degree of Reid’s power. Rather, the question is whether he has always used it appropriately.

Reid doesn’t care who he steps on or who he associates with, as long as he can increase his own net worth or that of his relatives.

As Marcus Stern reports for Reuters, BLM’s second justification for seizing Bundy’s cattle and driving him out of business comes straight out of Harry Reid’s play book: “Reid and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert. Reid has been one of the project’s most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project.”
Chinese magnate Wang Yusuo, with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion, owns ENN Group. In 2011 Reid ventured to ENN’s headquarters in Langfang, China, to tour the company and then worked to get this enormous company favored by the Chinese Communist government to take on development of a massive solar energy project in southern Nevada that would endeavor to supply California with 30% of its energy needs. Wang spoke at Reid’s Fourth Annual National Clean Energy Summit last year.
Reid’s lawyer son, Rory Reid, has been instrumental in his father’s efforts. Rory helped put together the ENN deal, while Harry pushed a clean energy agenda in Nevada that included promotion of solar power, laying the foundation for allowing the Chinese energy company with ties to the Communist government in China to acquire thousands of acres of Nevada public land and build a massive solar farm on it. The ENN Group boasts that its Nevada solar farm will be the largest in North America. Do you think a solar farm less disruptive to the desert tortoise habitat than a few hundred cows? How happy do you think the Communist leadership of the Peoples Republic are in knowing that none other than the Majority Leader of the United States Senate has through family connections enabled one of that government’s favorite sons, Wang Yusuo, to acquire 9,000 acres of American soil for an enterprise that will funnel funds that might otherwise go to American business back to Communist China.
Rory Reid served as chairman of the Clark County Commission, which controls the public lands needed by ENN. With Rory’s firm pulling the strings, Clark County’s commissioners over ruled County staff and voted to sell ENN 9,000 acres of public land for a fraction of the market value. Reuter’s Marcus Stern reports that appraisals of the 9,000 acres put the value at between $29.6 million and $38.6 million, but Reid influence secured it for just $4.5 million. Not only does it pay to be on Harry Reid’s good side, and that of his son’s, it really does not pay to be in Harry Reid’s way. Cliven Bundy’s ranch is in Harry Reid’s way. Reid wants Bundy out of southern Nevada. He wants BLM to do the dirty work, to use Bundy’s failure to pay some $1 million in ridiculously exorbitant grazing fees and penalties as justification for confiscating Bundy’s cattle and shutting down Bundy’s ranch.
Reid more.  Get it?  Reid More?  Ha, ha.

In 2005, Reid sponsored a $18 million earmark to build a bridge connecting Laughlin, Nev., with Bullhead City, Ariz. — an expenditure Arizona's senators denounced as unnecessary pork. Incidentally, the bridge was located just a few miles from a 160-acre land parcel owned by Reid. According to Schweizer, local authorities predicted the bridge would "undoubtedly" increase surrounding land values.
Schweizer writes that Reid has also leveraged his position in the Senate to persuade local officials. In 1998, for example, Reid bought an undeveloped residential tract for about $400,000, which he later sold to a partner, obtaining a joint stake in the limited liability company that owned the land. The company aggressively petitioned the county to rezone the land as commercial property, at the same time the county was lobbying Reid's office for earmarks.
Needless to say, county commissioners granted the rezoning, and Reid and his partner sold the land to a mall developer for $1.6 million. Reid himself walked away with $1.1 million.

Then we got Nancy Pelosi.  Here’s some of how she got rich:

For years, Pelosi has pushed for federal transportation earmarks to build and extend a lightrail project in her affluent San Francisco district, securing more than $890 million for the project between 2004 and 2011. Interestingly, Pelosi and her husband own an office building, valued between $1 million and $5 million, located at a prime distance from one of the planned lightrail stops. If the project is completed, the Pelosis could see the property value increase by as much as 150%, according to Schweizer.
In 2006, Pelosi also managed to get a $20 million earmark for waterfront redevelopment just blocks away from the same office building. In another instance, she got $12 million for a beautification project abutting another property owned by the Pelosis.
Pelosi's real estate portfolio has also gotten a boost from her friends in Congress. In 2010, Rep. Bernie Thompson (D-MI)  got a $800,000 earmark to upgrade the Napa Valley airport. Pelosi, who helped Thompson get his position as chair of the Homeland Security Committee, owns or has stake in multiple properties that would benefit from the project.

Nancy can’t resist the opportunity to enrich her relatives either:

Godmother of Cronyism: Pelosi’s Brother-In-Law Given $737 Million For

Green Energy Project

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is being called a crony congresswoman after her brother-in-law was given millions in loans from the Department of Energy even though green energy projects, most recently, have failed on the backs of taxpayers.
The report by the UK Daily Mail, points out that the green energy project, known as the SolarReserve project, is being backed by an investment fund in which Pelosi’s brother-in-law, Ronald Pelosi, is second in command.
Reports say the green energy project is destined for the deserts of Nevada. And the project comes two days after the failed green energy project Solyndra, which is costing taxpayers a whopping $535 million, was meant to be completed.

We all know how this “green energy” stuff works.  The people who set up the company run off with the money and the government’s left holding the bag.
These people make me sick, abusing their positions to make themselves rich and all the while, stoking the fire of class warfare.
